The Maya Train

The Maya Train is an ambitious infrastructure project intended to strengthen tourism and economic development in the impoverished Yucatán Peninsula, yet construction of the train has raised significant environmental concerns. The Mexican government has ignored these concerns and rushed construction, as President López Obrador hopes to finish the project before the end of his term. In this video, the Mexico Institute highlights the potential economic benefits and environmental impacts of the Maya Train.
